Milton Fire Service Debate Continues
The City and Town of Milton met on Wednesday night to discuss an update to the area’s fire service situation. The Milton Courier reports that if the city of Milton pursues a new fire service contract, it would not include the town of Milton, but rather the City of Janesville. Town of Milton Chairman Bryan Meyer said it would make more sense to have independent contracts, but that if the City of Janesville were to ask if the Town wanted to pursue a contract with the City of Janesville, he said yes. No formal decision on the future of Milton’s fire service has officially been made. There is a Wisconsin Policy Forum deadline of July 1 for an analysis of fire service options. Depending on what decision is made, a satellite station can be built on six acres near High Street and Highway 59 as a substation for the Edgerton Fire Department.
