Local Wrestling Results


High school D2 wrestling sectionals in Richland Center on Saturday advanced two Whitewater High School wrestlers to the state competition this coming weekend in Madison. Senior Mason Deporter took 3rd place in the 220 weight class and Carter Friend, also a senior, took 1st place after beating Delavan’s Owen Chelminiak at 160.

Turner High School’s Jackson Burk at 170 took 3rd place and Cal Ries at 182 also took 3rd. They will both advance.

Wrestlers from Delavan moving to the individual state competition this Thursday include junior Chris Karbash in the 120 weight class, and seniors Owen Chelminiak at 160, and Cole Hanson at 182.


Seven Milton wrestlers participating at Fort Atkinson D1 sectional will move on to state. 1st place was won by freshman Aiden Slama in the 113 weight class. Aiden Sinclair, a sophomore wrestling at 170, also took 1st . Juniors Royce Nilo and Matt Haldiman both took 2nd at 145 and 126 respectively. Seniors Micheal Schlem at 160 took 2nd, Charlie Eckert at 195 also took 2nd place, and Kade Desormeau at 182 took 1st.

Senior Hunter Klietz of Janesville Craig took 1st place in the 138 weight class at the D1 Fort Atkinson sectional wrestling competition. Janesville Parker’s Cayden Brandenburg, a sophomore, also took 1st place at 152.

Several Elkhorn Area High School wrestlers will be advancing to D1 state including senior Trayton Torres at 120. Joey Showalter, a senior at 132, took 2nd place.


In D1 sectional wrestling action at Racine Park High School on Saturday, Badger High School will advance sophomore Logan Clausen at 106 to the state individual wrestling competition later this week. At the same meet, Burlington advanced Zeke Tiedt, a senior, who took 2nd place at 220, and Junior Austin Skrundz who took 1st place at 145.

Individual Mukwonago High School wrestlers competed as well. Sophomore from the 106 weight class Josephine Stachowski took 1st and is advancing to state. 145 pound senior Cody Goeble and 160 pound junior Zach Eliszweski both took 1st.


D2 East Troy wrestlers traveled to Waupun for sectionals this past weekend. A senior at 120 pounds, Jonah Edwards, took first place and will advance to the individual state competition later this week. Heavy weight Max Hudson, also a senior, took 1st as well.
