Jefferson, Watertown Enforce Snowmobile Rules
The Jefferson Police Department is updating the public on regulations in regards to snowmobile use. The PD has identified two ordinances that it wants residents to follow. The first ordinance indicates that no snowmobiles are allowed on public sidewalks, right of ways, cemeteries or property. Snowmobile routes are marked. The police department also says that designated snowmobile routes do not include highways. The department asks snowmobile riders to operate them safely and respectfully. In Watertown, police are reminding residents that it is against statute to operate a snowmobile in the town limits, except on sanctioned trails. The city says on Facebook this appears to be a common occurrence, that residents will take their snowmobiles out in the town limits.
