The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has provided an update to the house explosion in Rome yesterday. Evacuations took place after the explosion that occurred in the N3900 block of Water Street. Many fire agencies responded to the scene to help put out a fire that was in the debris field and the body of the individual who was killed was found after the fire was put out. Multiple homes received structural damage in the explosion. The investigation is ongoing and extra patrols on Water Street have been set up by the sheriff’s office so residents can secure their property.
