Sunday Janesville Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest after Assault Rifle Found in Vehicle

According to a press release from the City of Janesville, yesterday at about 5:20 p.m. an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of W. Centerway St. and Academy St. The officer noticed marijuana inside the vehicle during contact with the driver, 22 year old Janesville resident Orion D. Mitchell. During a search of the vehicle an assault rifle with a drum magazine and handgun with multiple magazines and ammunition were located concealed in the vehicle. He was taken to the Rock County Jail on charges of two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor bail jumping, four counts of felony bail jumping, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
