Janesville Police Investigating Officer Impersonation Scam

Janesville Police are investigating after a resident reported receiving as many as fifteen phone calls from the Janesville Police’s mainline number. According to the media release, the caller would claim they are from JPD and would ask the caller for personal information in a likely attempt to steal the identity of the caller. The scammer also used a caller ID spoofing technique to use the number that is of the JPD. JPD reminds residents that it will not call from the mainline number, and if you receive a call from the number and have not previously contacted the Rock County Communications Center, you are asked to call the JPD.
