According to a press release from the Janesville Police Department, on Thursday at about 6 p.m. officers were in the 200 block of Madison St. investigating a separate incident when an officer observed a male whom he knew as 25 year old Curtis Walker from Janesville exit a residence in the neighborhood. The officer knew Walker had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. As officers attempted to take Walker into custody, he tried fleeing from them. Officers later decentralized Curtis to the ground in an attempt to place him into handcuffs behind his back. Once Walker was stabilized and handcuffed on the ground, officers located a firearm concealed in his waistband. The firearm was later confirmed to have been stolen from the Rock County area. Walker is currently a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing any firearms and is on extended supervision for armed robbery. During the investigation, officers also seized quantities of cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy tablets, and U.S. Currency. Walker was later processed at the Janesville Police Department for these charges and was later taken to the Rock County jail pending his initial court appearance.
