Janesville PD Investigating Suspicious Person

The Janesville Police Department is investigating a suspicious person. According to a press release, Tuesday around 2 PM, Janesville Police officers responded to the 1600 block of Liberty Lane for a report of a suspicious person. One day earlier, it was learned that a person had gained entry to an elderly woman’s home after posing as a worker with the Janesville Water department. The suspect was described as wearing a blue lanyard with a Photo ID and drove a blue vehicle. The suspect reportedly told the woman to check the hot water and used a laser device to check. The suspect look around the residence but no theft occurred. After a few more questions were answered, the suspect left the residence. The water department is currently checking meters in the area. Citizens are reminded that the water department will send out appointments via mail, and wear special City appointed badges and clothing. Residents are reminded to use caution when someone offers to enter your home.
