Janesville COVID-19 Vaccine Timeline Causing Confusion
Confusion in Janesville over the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. WKOW reports that schools in Janesville were to be closed next Friday, January 22nd, so that staff could get their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a press release. A total of 1300 people would be eligible to receive the vaccine right away. In the same release it was reported that Rock County was moving into Phase 1b of the vaccine distribution. School staff are a part of Phase 1b. DHS later confirmed that teachers were in fact not yet eligible for the vaccine but that eligibility would be expanded once more vaccines are available. Public comments on Phase 1b recommendations are open until January 18th. Those involved in education are a part of the recommendations, but they haven’t yet been finalized. Mercyhealth said in a statement to WKOW that vaccines were still on schedule as of Thursday.
