According to an update from the Janesville Police Department, this morning just before 4 a.m. officers were alerted by a homeowner that their house was being burglarized in the 1300 block of Elida St. The homeowner was not home but was able to view this on their video cameras. Arriving officers encountered three suspects fleeing out a back door, and a vehicle that was in the driveway fled the scene. The three suspects on foot were captured by officers, and the vehicle was located a short time later and led officers on a pursuit down to Beloit where the pursuit was terminated due to danger to the public. The vehicle involved in the pursuit was found abandoned in Beloit and it was discovered it had been stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Cornelia in Janesville. A dog that was taken from the Elida residence was found outside of the vehicle in Beloit. Another stolen vehicle from Beloit was found in the 1100 block of Elida early this morning. Three male juveniles ages 13, 15, and 16 from Beloit were arrested and charged with burglary, theft, operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent as a passenger, and resisting or obstructing an officer. One individual was also charged for possession of THC, two of them were charged with a probation violation, and one was on electronic monitoring. All juveniles were held at the Youth Services Center. This incident is still under investigation with the Beloit Police Department to identify the driver of the vehicle that fled. That suspect faces many of the charges listed above in addition, dognapping, and felony fleeing.
