Illinois Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

An Illinois man was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Rock county Court for killing his friend in a drunk driving crash in 2018. Cori Reed plead guilty to homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. Reed was driving east on County BT when he failed to stop at the intersection with County S, the vehicle entered a ditch, rolled over and came to rest on its roof in a cornfield. The passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He later died at a local hospital and Reed didn’t call for help for over an hour but made multiple calls to family members. Reed is sentenced to six years in prison with 5 years of extended supervision, the judge had granted him 78 days of sentence credit.
