House Destroyed In Early Morning Fort Atkinson Fire

13 fire departments responded to this morning’s major fire around 3 AM in Fort Atkinson. Fire Chief Daryl Rausch spoke to us about the incident, and told us that the home was a total loss. The family made it out safely due to working smoke detectors, and the family dogs were safe. The family cat was rescued and is expected to be OK. 1 firefighter suffered minor injuries. Chief Rausch also said that of the 13 fire departments, most were from Jefferson County, however some from Rock and Walworth counties also responded to the scene to assist. Highway 12 was reopened by 10 AM.

Wisconsin DOT to Start Construction in Janesville
