Fort Atkinson Releases Request for Proposals from Communication Consulting Services for Referendum

The City of Fort Atkinson has released a request for proposals for communication consulting services for a referendum question relating to a public safety staffing. This referendum would be on the April 5, 2022 ballot. The city is likely to approve a resolution that will authorize a referendum question asking for approval to exceed state levy limits and add 2 police officers, 6 firefighter/paramedics, and 6 firefighter/EMTs, and the necessary equipment to support those new positions. Council Member Mason Becker stated that call volumes in Fort Atkinson have been going up each year, which is partially due to the fact that Fort Atkinson has the highest number of community based residential facility beds in the state. There will be more opportunities in the near future for the public to give their comments and ask questions regarding the referendum.
