Fort Atkinson Gas Leak Update

The City of Fort Atkinson has released more information on yesterday’s gas main break at the Fort Atkinson Fire Department. According to the release, around 9:30 AM, authorities responded to a contractor that struck a 4” gas main at the renovations for the fire department. Fire services from Fort Atkinson and Jefferson responded to the area. Crews evacuated several homes and businesses around the fire department due to wind direction, and the fire station was evacuated and the power turned off. WE Energies controlled the leak at 11:15 AM and the repairs were done by 2 PM. It was determined that no damage was done to the fire station and all operations returned to normal. The area was reopened by 3 PM
