Fort Atkinson Firefighters Battle Multiple Fires Over The Weekend

Firefighters in Fort Atkinson had a busy weekend. On Friday morning, according to multiple sources, the department responded to an apartment fire in the 1000 block of Whitewater Avenue. Firefighters were on scene for a little over three hours. Chief Daryl Rausch said the cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking materials that were thought to have been extinguished, and to call firefighters even if you think a fire has been extinguished, as firefighters are equipped to handle and make sure that the fire is completely out. Then, on Sunday, firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on 4th Street. It happened just after 3:45 PM. The department posted pictures of a grey SUV being doused with water. There was no word of any injuries.
