Fort Atkinson Amends Section of Municipal Code Relating to Sale of Tobacco Near Schools

Last Thursday at the Fort Atkinson City Council meeting, they amended section 58-148 of the City of Fort Atkinson Municipal Code, which relates to the sale of tobacco. This year, Fort Atkinson will see the addition of its second retailer focused on the sale of smoking products next door to the high school. This ordinance will prevent future related businesses from opening near schools. Going forward, future businesses will not be able to sell tobacco, nicotine products, electronic smoking devices, nor electronic smoking device paraphernalia within 1,000 feet of the nearest point of the property line of a public or private school.
