Big news for fire services in Rock County, as the Janesville and City and Town of Beloit fire departments have announced that they will partner up to train recruit academy firefighters for the first time. According to the press release, this allows the departments to maximize efficiency and ensure effectiveness. Crews have been training at various locations throughout the area, including the Stearns Center and the Parker Dr Ramp. Janesville’s recruits is a combination of a new class and the class of firefighters who saw their training suspended last year due to the pandemic. The ten week program prepares the recruits for every activity necessary for them to effectively serve the community and builds upon the certifications already required to serve the fire department.
