An elementary school student in Rock County brought a loaded gun to school causing the arrest of his stepfather. Beloit police were called to Todd Elementary school at 8:42am where a teacher saw a gun in a student’s backpack and confiscated it. Wisconsin state statutes prevent the department from referring criminal charges against a child due to age and after an investigation into how the child acquired the gun Brian Walker was arrested. Walker was charged with suspicion of leaving a loaded firearm within reach or easy access of a child. Child protective services will also investigate, Walker was booked and released with tentative charges being referred to the Rock County DA’s office.
