Fatal Plane Crash In Rock County
Two people have died in a plane crash in Rock County this morning. During a press conference, Rock County Sheriff’s officers detailed that the tower at Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport were in communication with an aircraft that had departed the airport reporting a problem. According to the sheriff’s office, the tower reported seeing the plane go down about a mile south of the airport in an area near Driftwood Drive after attempting to return to the airport, around 9:20 this morning. It took about 10 minutes for the wreckage to be located, and the aircraft was buried in snow. The Sheriff’s office used their air boat to get to the dense area around the wreckage. Two bodies were located in the partially submerged wreckage, and the identities of those occupants is being withheld. The aircraft is only being described as an experimental aircraft at this time. The incident remains under investigation, and the NTSB will soon assume command of the investigation.
