A Driver who’s pickup truck hit a school bus is facing multiple charges including a third offense OWI. William Kaplan of Fort Atkinson hit the Deerfield RiteWay school bus head on a little after 5 pm on Wednesday in the town of Christiana. The bus driver received minor injuries and two passengers on the bus were examined by EMS and released, the passenger in Kaplan’s car was not injured as well. Kaplan admitted at the hospital that he was operating under the influence and was charged with 3rd offense OWI, misdemeanor bail jumping and a number of traffic citations, with other charges possible depending on the extent of the injuries suffered by the occupants of the bus. No charges were filed in Dane County Court Thursday. Kaplan will next appear in court on these charges on March 18th.
