Dousman Transport Presents To DDSD School Board

wsld77

Monday night, representatives from Dousman Transport presented their school bus route plans to the Delavan-Darien School Board. Board members were able to see on a large map how far the bus routes reached, the necessity of each route, and how they have been reworked from last year to reflect less riders. The current plan is to condense the routes to 17 total runs, compared to the previous 20 to save funding. As of this year, the district’s contract with Dousman Transport had ended. The Board voted to continue business with the company at tonight’s meeting.

Other changes include cutting out the school in communications between the bus company and families. Now, families of students will call Dousman directly to deal with route and stop changes. Also, in the event of school cancellations similar to those at the start of the pandemic, the district will only have to pay Dousman Transport 65% of what it normally would. It was noted that many school districts have deals requiring them to pay 100%, which means the board would be saving quite a bit of taxpayer money in comparison.
