Clinton High School Students Protest Superintendent
Over 100 high school students in Clinton took part in a protest last week and Monday asking for the removal of the school district superintendent. According to the Beloit daily News, the protests were to show support and solidarity with school staff, as well as asking for the removal of superintendent Jim Brewer. Students sat silently in the common areas of the school, before walking around campus. High school administrators met with protest leaders on Friday to listen to their concerns in what is reported as the first of multiple listening sessions. More listening sessions are expected to occur later in the month. Despite these sessions, students continue to call for the school board to remove Brewer due to alleged mistreatment of school staff. In a letter sent to parents on Monday, the school board acknowledged the public concerns, but continued to support Brewer.
