According to an update from the City of Janesville, the Operations Division has partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to provide resources that help residents learn how to protect people, recycling and waste management facilities, and the environment through battery safety. The types of materials in many dry cell batteries include mercury, lithium, cadmium, lead, and acids which can all be hazardous if released into the environment. The E-Cycle Wisconsin program exists to provide recycling options for households looking to dispose of these devices.
