According to an update from the City of Janesville, they have hired a contractor to paint about 260 fire hydrants in the community. The process will include the removal of the old paint using a technique similar to sandblasting. The contractor will clean the hydrants down to the metal, then prime and repaint them with a fresh coat of yellow paint. The city anticipates work to begin today and be completed in about two weeks.
