The City of Delavan is warning taxpayers about a possible scam. The city says that Wisconsin organizations have received word of multiple individuals receiving fraudulent letters regarding their taxes. These letters "look very official", and creates a sense of urgency. According to the City, the letter reads “The State of Wisconsin can now take enforcement action such as seizing assets and garnishing wages and bank accounts to satisfy the outstanding debt owed.” Residents are asked to determine the scam by reading the words “Benefits Suspension Unit” or by reading a letter with no information about a remitting payment.
