According to an update from the City of Burlington, a Public Hearing regarding the Burlington Vision Plan 2040 will be held at the Common Council meeting on September 20, 2022 at 6:30 p.m., or shortly thereafter, at 224 E. Jefferson Street. The draft plan can be viewed at https://www.thelakotagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/20220701-Burlington2040CompPlan_Draft.pdf. The finalized plan is scheduled to be voted on by the Common Council on October 4, 2022 at the Common Council meeting.
For the last year and a half, the City of Burlington undertook a collaborative planning process with community residents and stakeholders to create a Comprehensive Plan. Burlington Vision Plan 2040 outlines important policies and strategies related to land use and development, downtown, housing and neighborhoods, open spaces and natural resources, transportation, historic preservation, quality of life, infrastructure and capital improvements, and community sustainability and resiliency.
The plan visualizes and assesses the appropriate land use mix, community character, housing, and economic development needs – while considering planning strategies for sustainable growth, enhancing community appearance, and adding new recreational and open space amenities.
