City of Burlington Addresses Echo Lake Dam

According to a press release from the City of Burlington, they have discussed rumors regarding the Echo Lake Dam, and are reminding residents that the dam does not meet DNR requirements and will therefore be modified or removed by the year 2025. The city is exploring many possible options for the dam and are considering long and short term costs, and what reconstruction or removal would look like. Mayor Jeannie Hefty has stated that she is personally in favor of keeping the dam, but the opinions of City Staff and Council also have weight in the decision. Any decisions or updates going forward with the project will be communicated to the city and it’s residents. Additionally, residents are encouraged to give feedback at council meetings during public comment. Past studies on the dam can be found at burlington-wi.gov/549/Echo-Lake-Dam.
