City of Beloit Reviewing Casino Ordinance
An ordinance change relating to casinos may soon be happening in Beloit. According to the BDN, the ordinance change would reevaluate how the city receives revenue upon any approvals of the planned Ho-Chunk Casino in Beloit. City staff are reportedly asking the council to repeal a 2002 ordinance related to the disbursement of funds for the planned casino involving the St. Croix Chippewa and Bad River Band that is no longer happening. If the city repeals the ordinance, it would have to rely on the existing language in the ordinance to accept both future revenue and budgets. The ordinance will be discussed in future meetings, with a first-reading then opening the door for further action.
