Bus Barn Fire Closes Burlington Schools
A fire at the longtime bus provider in Burlington caused the Burlington Area School District to close. According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:40 this morning, an officer noticed smoke coming from the Thomas Bus Company on Bushnell Road. Several school buses were fully engulfed in flames. The business was closed at the time of the incident and no injuries had been reported. Bushnell Road was closed between McCanna Parkway Roundabout and the Burlington Bypass. Burlington schools’ were closed for students due to a lack of transportation, but staff were still requested to report. School will resume as normal on Wednesday, with Group B in person and Group A virtually. Extracurricular activities at Burlington High School will continue as usual tonight.
