According to a media statement from the Burlington Area School District, they received a ruling from the Department of Public Instruction on Friday regarding a discrimination complaint that was filed in March of last year. The ruling said that the district was discriminatory in disciplining a student more harshly than other white students, and that the district was aware of a racially hostile environment and didn’t respond appropriately; among other things. The department of Public Instruction has given the district a series of corrective action steps to follow.
