Beloit to Resume Athletics
The Beloit School Board unanimously decided to reopen athletics competitions on Tuesday night. According to the Beloit Daily News, extracurricular activities were also approved. Sports would resume with open gyms on February 1, and the swimming season would begin on February 8. The athletic director for the district, Joel Beard, presented the reopening plan at the meeting. This plan includes a variety of preventive measures such as social distancing, hand sanitizers, face coverings, symptom tests, and cleaning and sanitizing. Locker rooms will remain closed during all practices, and all practices will be limited to 90 minutes, with a 30 minute break between groups. All equipment must be cleaned between use. Chairs will remain socially distanced during games and must remain that way. Players will have assigned seating. No spectators will be allowed at Beloit Memorial HS except for essential personnel. All games will be streamed on YouTube.
