Beloit School Board Meeting Tonight

The Beloit School Board will meet to discuss the vacancy left by the Board President, as well as elect a new Vice President tonight. The meeting, set for 6 PM at the Kolak Education Center, will attempt to fill the vacancies. According to the Beloit Daily News, it is board policy to fill vacancies within 60 days of the position opening. If the board decides to fill the vacancy, it will also decide whether or not to allow a candidate running for election to take the position. There are concerns that filling the position will take away from the debate over reopening schools. There are two open seats in the upcoming election.

The Beloit School Board will also discuss a public hearing on reopening athletics during tonight’s 6 PM meeting at the Kolak Education Center. According to the Beloit Daily News, the discussion will be had during the meeting, and a public hearing would take place somewhere around the January 23rd or 24th timeline, prior to the planned January 26th vote. A decision will be made in Late February or Early March on the reopening for term 4, which starts in April.
