Beloit Police have recently received numerous emails about hypodermic needles that had been located in the city. In a post on their Facebook page, the department says that this isn’t a Beloit specific issue, and before COVID they would be actively out educating the community on what to do if you locate a hypodermic needle. If a needle is found capped, police suggest you use gloves and place the needle in a water bottle or similar bottle and throw it in the garbage. Do not try to recap the needle. Police want to make sure this information can help the community, and also say you can NOT be charged for possession of drug paraphernalia just for having a needle in Wisconsin, unless a powdery substance is located with it. More information is on the City of Beloit Police FB page.
