Beloit Man Steals Car and Leads Police In Pursuit


Early this morning (March 30) at approximately 12:25AM a Janesville Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Midvale Dr. and Wright Rd. The vehicle fled. The Beloit Police advised the vehicle matches the description of a recently stolen vehicle out of the City of Beloit. They also advised the possible driver/suspect was Cory Bendorf Sasseen and they have probable cause to arrest him. The driver fled Walworth County and to Illinois for a brief time before re-entering Wisconsin. The Rock County Sheriff’s Department was contacted to pursue after entering and leaving the City of Beloit.


The vehicle ended up striking 3 Rock County squad cars during a moving road block procedure. The vehicle came to a stop on Cty Tk D near Rockport Park Dr. The driver was taken into custody and identified as Cory Bendorf Sasseen. Once the vehicle was stopped deputies noticed the passenger in the vehicle was having a medical event and immediately began rendering aid and contacted EMS. No injuries occurred during the incident. The Rock County Sheriff's Office charged Bendorf Sasseen with fleeing, reckless driving, operating after revocation, reckless endangering safety – 1st degree, 2 counts of reckless endangering safety – 2nd degree and operating while intoxicated – 2nd offense. At this time, it is not known what other charges will be brought by the other agencies involved.
