A UW Whitewater student died Friday after being struck by a vehicle being pursued by US Marshals. Maria Buhler and Joseph Badora suffered fatal injuries from the crash that happened around 9:30 Friday morning, she was wearing her seat belt and the airbags deployed according to the medical examiner. Donald Lee Cooper Jr was the driver of the other car, he was wanted by authorities on a homicide warrant from North Dakota. Cooper Jr was being pursued by the US Marshals when he drove through a red light at 51st and Center Streets. The Pursuit went for miles and he was driving around 70 miles per hour when he struck the Honda Civic killing Badora and Buhler. Cooper was charged in Milwaukee county court with two counts each of second degree reckless homicide, fleeing an officer resulting in death and operating while suspended causing death. He’s currently being held in Milwaukee county jail.
