A registered sex offender in Walworth County could face jail time

A registered sex offender in Walworth County could face jail time after allegedly purchasing two assault rifles and lying about where he was. Christopher Youngs had allegedly listed his address on the sex offender registry as being in Rockford Illinois but is actually living in Elkhorn for about two years according to witnesses. Two people who sold guns to Youngs contacted police after discovering that he was a convicted felon and the sales included two AR-15 assault rifles and a 9mm handgun. Youngs is charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and nine counts of violating sex offender registry requirements, he can’t possess a firearm because of his felony sexual assault of a child convicting in 2005. If convicted on all charges he could face a combined 80 years in prison. Youngs is set to appear in Walworth County Circuit court on April 23rd
