Wisconsin Harness Horse Association (WHHA) Art Contest (9:00 am)
Wisconsin Harness Horse Association (WHHA) is getting ready for another great year of horse racing at the fairs; including the Walworth County Fair August 28-September 2 at Elkhorn. This year they are sponsoring an art contest for k-12 students living in Walworth County. Students are asked to draw original artwork featuring harness horses and their drivers. Mickey Barnes of Elkhorn, racehorse owner and longtime WHHA volunteer stated, this is a great way to get kids involved in harness racing and their artwork will be displayed at the fair. Rules and entry forms will be distributed at the schools starting April 10th and available at www.wiharnessracing.com It's free to enter; there will be 3 divisions: k-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grades. Entries must be postmarked by May 31st. One selected from each age group and used on the cover of a racing program during the Walworth County Fair's weekend race dates Friday 8/30, Saturday 8/31 and Sunday 9/1. They will also be used on custom t-shirts and families can be in the winner's circle photo after one of the races...and students who enter can tour horse barns, meet some of the drivers and see their art displayed at the Blacksmith Shop on the fair grounds.
